Rabbi Soetendorp issued the following call in support of Avaaz and their action to support the democratic activists in the Middle East with black-out proof information technology:

"We are waking up with the feeling of powerlessness. How can we, concerned citizens, reach out and support our neighbours in Libya, how can we help safeguard their lives? I applaud Avaaz in their efforts to help breakdown the blockade of information. Let our consternation and concern reach our representatives in government and parliament. Let us build a wave of indignation. The bloobath must stop! Reason and humanity must prevail!"
