unhcr_er_photo1A severe drought is affecting more than 12 Million people in Somalia, Kenia and Ethiopia. Aid agencies warn that this could lead to an unprecedented famine if the international community does not take immediate action.

BBC Africa reports that the region's food crisis has reached "unimaginable proportions". UNHCR and other aid organizations have launched emergency response campaigns to support affected camps and villages with the most basic supplies of water, food and healthcare.
